Another week, another #1 team goes down.
The top two teams in the country lost this week, putting the #3 Michigan Wolverines (21-2, 8-2 B1G) in position to earn the top spot in the nation again come Monday with a victory today at Wisconsin (16-7, 7-3 B1G)
It is never easy when teams travel to Madison to play. Coach Bo Ryan’s team is never flashy, but they are consistently a physical team that will bang it often in the post and will dominate you on the boards if you allow them too.
This will be another game that requires a total team effort. Wisconsin is by no means an offensive juggernaut and on paper certainly don’t look that impressive, but keep in mind that this is a team that went down to Bloomington and beat the top-ranked Indiana Hoosiers.
In the end, I think Michigan has too many weapons for the Badgers to keep up today. With Jordan Morgan still hobbled, the bigs will have to step up today and play physical. Their biggest challenge will be how they respond to the road crowd, Wisconsin is one of the toughest places to play in the Big Ten and it will be a test for them, much like every other conference game this season.
The Badgers are only 1 game behind the first place teams in the conference, so this game does mean alot for the standings.
Ultimately, the Wolverines should come out on top today, but it sure as hell won’t be easy.
