Scouting Report: Artavis Scott is a four-star recruit according to Scout.com and has been named to the 2014 ESPN Watch List. Scott is a smaller receiver, but runs very good routes and is very good at making plays after the catch. He is the possession receiver that every good offense has, a la Wes Welker. He won’t wow you with his speed, but is fast enough to run quick, precise routes, and make defenses pay.
There are a few aspects to his game that he needs to improve, namely is physical attributes. He is not a very physical player, so adding strength and quickness would be to his benefit. He also needs to work on his hands, as he tends to catch the ball with his body at times. Discipline is something he must get better with as well. Scott is not very interested in blocking either, which is why he would be a logical slot receiver. Some services have him rated as a cornerback as well.
Scott would be a good compliment to Drake Harris in this class. If he can work on some of the things stated above, I see him as a potential Ryan Broyles-type player wherever he lands.
