Junior shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr. announced today at a press conference that he will forego his senior season and enter the 2013 NBA Draft.
He joins Trey Burke as the second member of the Wolverines to declare early for the draft, with decisions from Glenn Robinson III and Mitch McGary still pending.
“It was a hard decision, but I tried to make the decision that was best for me,” Hardaway said. “I felt like the NBA was the right decision for me.
“It was a tough decision, you have a chance to come back for your senior year, or an opportunity to go to the NBA. It was a win-win situation.”
Many NBA Draft analysts have Hardaway slated as a mid-to-late second round pick. It was clear that this was want he wanted to do, which I can’t fault. It’s hard to rag on a guy who’s just trying to follow his dream. His stock can’t really improve much, and in a weak draft class, there’s a shot he can slide up draft boards a bit, so it was probably the right move from his perspective.
GR3 and McGary still have their decisions to make. It sounds like they are a packaged deal. The deadline to declare for the draft is April 28th.
