Basketball: Michigan adds Dakich as a Walk-On

The 2013-14 Michigan basketball team added another piece to their team with the announcement that point guard Andrew Dakich will join the team as a walk-on.

Son of ESPN college basketball analyst Dan Dakich, Andrew announced his decision to become a Wolverine on his Twitter page Monday afternoon. He will join as a preferred walk-on, according to’s Kyle Bogenschutz.

For those that don’t know, a preferred walk-on is a player who is assured a spot on the team, but the coach is unable to offer the player a scholarship.

Dakich is a 6-2 point guard out of Zionsville, Indiana, and he does have some Michigan ties already. He played on the same AAU team as incoming four-star power forward Mark Donnal and they were both coached by Dan Dakich.

With Dakitch’s announcement, the ’13-’14 hoops team seems to be set with returning players Jordan Morgan, Caris LeVert, Nik Stauskas, Glenn Robinson III, Mitch McGary, Spike Albrecht, Max Bielfeldt, Jon Horford, and incoming freshman Derrick Walton, Zak Irvin, Mark Donnal, and now Dakitch.
