What Does The Jabrill Peppers Commitment Mean For Da’Shawn Hand?

Michigan added a special piece to an already superb crop of players when five-star athlete and number-two overall player in the 2014 class Jabrill Peppers announced Sunday afternoon that he would become a member of Team 135. It was the kind of commit that could possibly open the floodgates for more top-tier recruits to come.

The first and most popular name that comes to mind is defensive end Da’Shawn Hand out of Woodbridge, Virginia. Hand is another five-star prospect and many have him pegged as the top player in this class. All signs have pointed to Virginia Tech being in the lead for him, but Michigan is starting to gain ground on them and some reports have them just about tied for Hand’s services.

Speculation of Hand-to-Michigan has began to heat up even more in the wake of the Jabrill Peppers decision. Do I think Michigan gets this guy? If I had to give you an answer today, the answer would probably be no, but he’s not making his decision today. Michigan, by all accounts, is going hard after this guy and the other players in this class will attempt to bring him in as well. This class already has some charismatic personalities in the form of Peppers, Wilton Speight, and Michael Ferns.

Da’Shawn Hand should be in town for camp sometime this summer and many think he will take his official visit during the weekend of the Notre Dame “Under the Lights 2” game. With the staff in place, the kids in place, and a great weekend to be in Ann Arbor, Michigan could position themselves to make yet another huge splash in the recruiting world.
