This morning, 2014’s top football prospect, defensive end Da’Shawn Hand, made a surprise announcement when he said he has trimmed his list of schools down to three, with a surprise name left off the list.
According to Rivals.com, the final three schools in the running for his services are Michigan, Alabama, and Florida, with the Wolverines seemingly in the lead at this point.
You’ll notice Virginia Tech is nowhere to be found on that list, which is a shock to many considering they looked to be ahead in the race towards to beginning. South Carolina was also dropped from his list.
Hand also goes on to mention that visits to LSU and USC are possible as well.
Academics seem to play a part in the process, as Da’shawn Hand is looking to go into Sports Marketing, which Virginia Tech does not offer, hence their absence from the list.
He reportedly wants to decide sometime in December or January.
If I had to make a prediction based on today’s news, I’d say the chances that Michigan lands the top player in the nation are as high as they could be right now. Keep in mind that no school has ever landed the top two players in the nation.
There’s a great chance that happens. Buckle up, Wolverine Nation.
