New Site, New Look, Same Great Content

Welcome to the future of Michigan Wolverines coverage.

Since we started this website in January, we have seen our page views and number of followers increase steadily. In these eight months, we have managed to generate over 135,000 page views and have nearly 2,500 people follow us on Twitter. It is truly humbling to see our hard work pay off.

That being said, we have some very exciting news to pass along!

Over the last month or so, you may have noticed we have been somewhat quiet when it comes to content and interactions on social media. As we’ve stated before, we are all regular people just like you guys and lead very busy lives, especially as college students, but that’s not entirely the reason we’ve been quiet. Something much bigger has been in the works.

A few weeks ago, we were approached by a gentleman by the name of Douglas Hills (you can read up on him here), who started up a website titled, a website dedicated to Michigan football, basketball, and hockey recruiting and news. His desire was to create a website with FREE content on par with any other website out there that reports on the Wolverines.

Doug contacted us after discovering our podcast and through Twitter, and was very impressed with the work we have done at Bleed Blue Recruiting. He informed us of his goals for the website and offered us the chance to join him in building something special.

After much debate and deliberation among the staff and back-and-forth conversations with Doug, we have decided to accept his offer and join Your #1 source of Michigan Wolverines coverage. Your #1 source of Michigan Wolverines coverage.

What will be different on the new site?

If you check out the site, you’ll find it has a much cleaner, user-friendly look to it. You will also have much more content to check out than just recruiting. BlockMBlue will cover football, basketball, and hockey of the past, present, and future. The website is also equipped with a forums section that we will be posting from and generating conversations and debate, all for FREE.

So why would we accept his offer? Why now?

We have worked so hard over the last eight months or so to become a reliable outlet for recruiting information and other types of news. While it’s very difficult for us to be giving up our name, we feel this gives us the best chance to give YOU the best content we can and grow as writers.

It is no secret that we have been looking for upgrades in several categories, whether it be on our staff, with the look of the site, our content, etc. To take our work to the next level, it was going to take resources that we just did not have being a fan-run blog. Douglas Hills has already put a ton of time and money in to the site he has created, and it really was just an opportunity we feel would have been foolish to pass up.

Secondly, in chatting with Doug over the last few weeks, what really pushed us over the edge and made us accept his offer was his level of professionalism. He is experienced in this field and is in contact with many who can help launch this thing and take it to the next level. The opportunity to work with someone like this, grow our audience, and become more experienced and well-versed as writers would have been extremely difficult to pass up.

We have learned so much about ourselves and about our audience and fans since the beginning of our website. There is a lot of potential with our staff, and I assure you, we have not even come close to scratching the surface of what we can be yet.

Over the next few days, you will begin to notice changes on our various accounts and our articles from Bleed Blue Recruiting will appear on BlockMBlue. Doug is in the process of transferring all of our work so that it can be accessed from his website and we do not lose what we have already put out there.

As of now, the guys following us over to BlockMBlue are Kyle, myself (Anthony), David, Zach, and Evan, with a few more possibly pending. In the coming weeks, we will also have our own BlockMBlue accounts on Twitter exclusively for our content and items related to the website. We hope that you guys will follow us over as well, as your participation in our site’s success has been what has fueled us for all these months.

Effective Monday morning, our social media accounts will reflect the change. will remain live until all of our previous content is copied over to the new website.

This is an exciting change for us, and we hope this partnership will be beneficial to our readers as well. To us, this is the logical next step, and we are very honored to be included in this project.

So, we sign off as Bleed Blue Recruiting.

Welcome to BlockMBlue. It’s going to be a fun ride.

Get to Know Top 2015 Recruit Jashon Cornell

Michigan has already landed two top 20 recruits in the 2015 class in George Campbell (WR/Tarpon Springs, Fl.) and Damien Harris. (RB/Berea, Ky.).

Malik McDowell talks Southfield and recruiting

It is now official, Malik McDowell will be granted transfer to Southfield High from Detroit Loyola.
“I am very relieved,” McDowell said.
Southfield will now have arguably the best defensive line in the state with the addition of the defensive end/tackle McDowell to Lawrence Marshall, a d-end and 2014 Michigan commit.
With both lining up together, it will be tough for ayn offensive line to block both.
McDowell can’t wait for Monday’s first official practice of the season and to be on the same line as Marshall.
“We worked out at the same gym. It’s going to be fun and will mean less double and triple teams,” McDowell said of the new Blue Jays duo.
Recruiting Update
As of now, McDowell says that there is not a leader, nor a top five list of schools he is interested in attending. Also there currently is not a date set for his decision.
McDowell is sitting on offers from Alabama, Florida, and LSU as well as the big ten’s Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Ohio State, and Wisconsin. He also holds offers from Florida State, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, Oregon, Syracuse, UCLA, and USC.
Ironically, McDowell was ranked 67th in the 2014 class by ESPN in their updated top 300, the same number he wore at Detroit Loyola and will hope to wear at Southfield.
Marshall was a part of getting McDowell to Southfield and said he is trying to bring him to Michigan as well.
“If you want to go to the best school, then you got to go to Michigan. We have the best class right now,” Marshall said in an interview about recruiting McDowell to Muchigan at the Sound Mind Sound Body camp on June 14.
For McDowell, his recruiting process has been a blessing and a curse at the same time.
“The opportunity to go to college for free is a true blessing, but the constant calls of people trying to get me to go to their school is the curse.”
“I think I’m doing pretty well in the recruiting area.”
Cass Tech matchup
Southfield opens their season up Aug. 30 against Cass Tech at Wayne State in the Prep Football Classic.
McDowell is optimistic of his team’s chances.
“I’m ready.”
Where will he end up?
Similar to fourth ranked overall in 2014 Da’Shawn Hand, it is sometimes hard to read McDowell and the direction of his recruitment.
McDowell is not sure if he will be in attendance of the M
